First week of work

Ok, not a full week, but it feels like one.

The amount of life admin I have to do is insane. You know that annoying moment in life when you need to renew your driving license or your passport and on top of paying the cash, you worry which address it needs to be sent to etc? Now add on top of those things, finding and renting a house, buying a car, opening a bank account, registering for national insurance, and signing on for healthcare. All in the space of a few weeks.

Now you can see why I feel like I’ve been here a week already.

So aside from the awful life admin I have to do, when work finishes TCI turns into a sports crazy playground. It also happens that all my favourite sports are here too. Namely sailing, tennis and rugby (and tag rugby).

Had my first site visit today, which often consists of a lot of health and safety checks, a very long meeting and many photographs. Ours was just a chat and a lot of beers! We left in the dark with the site manager shouting ‘make sure you have a roadie!’ If you hadn’t guessed, drink driving isn’t really a thing here.

I’m looking forward to the weekend and finally get my feet in the sea! (As yet unachieved)
